TESWA — DECISION PAGE (TEMPORARY)

Upgrade & downgrade — what the big platforms do

You asked how Claude and similar services handle plan changes, so we stop reinventing the wheel. I researched 15+ platforms: Claude itself, Stripe (the payments company whose model most of the internet uses), Netflix, Spotify, Google Play, Apple, Slack, Notion — and the closest ones to Teswa: dubizzle and Bayut. The answer is very consistent, and you were right: our current flow is the odd one out. Read sections 1–2, then pick Option A or B in section 3–4.

1What everyone does — all 15 platforms agree

Upgrade Happens immediately. You pay the new price minus the value of your unused days. Teswa already works exactly this way — no change needed.

Downgrade Never moves money. It is a scheduled event: "Your plan changes to X on August 15. Until then you keep everything." One sentence, one date, one confirm button — that's the whole dialog on Netflix, Apple, Claude, everywhere.

Prepaid months Their value converts into time or credit — never cash back to the card. Google turns leftover value into extra days. Bayut (the Gulf leader) turns it into wallet credit. Nobody cancels your months and refunds your card.

Cash refunds Exist only as a support/admin action for special cases — on every single platform surveyed. Never inside the normal plan-change flow.

2Why our current flow confused you — you were right

When you downgraded with 3 prepaid months, Teswa did something no other platform does: it offered to cancel your months and send 202.500 د.ك back to your card. That's why it felt wrong:

· You asked to change your plan, and suddenly money was leaving — it reads like a penalty.
· The dialog didn't say which package the months belonged to.
· Your 1/3/6/12 options disappeared, because the flow destroyed the months instead of carrying their value forward.
· And going back (downgrade → upgrade) felt broken because after the refund there was nothing left to go back to.

The engine did all of this correctly — the design is what needs to change.

3Option A — your months convert automatically (recommended)

The rule: when you downgrade, the money you already paid for future months simply re-buys months of the cheaper plan — automatically, favourably rounded, no money moving anywhere.

Your real example: 3 prepaid months of الاحترافية (202.500 د.ك) ÷ 40 د.ك = 5 months + 2 days of النمو. You paid for 3 months and end up with more than 5. Nothing to cancel, nothing to refund.

The new dialog — three lines instead of the scary one:

تنتقل باقتك إلى «باقة النمو» يوم 15 أغسطس — حتى ذلك التاريخ تبقى جميع مزايا «الباقة الاحترافية» فعّالة.
قيمة أشهرك المدفوعة مقدماً (202.500 د.ك) تتحول تلقائياً إلى 5 أشهر ويومين من «باقة النمو» — بلا أي خصم أو استرجاع.
[تأكيد التغيير] · [إبقاء باقتي الحالية]

After confirming the page shows a small chip — «مجدول: النمو اعتباراً من 15 أغسطس» — with an «إلغاء التغيير» button that undoes everything with one tap, free, any time before the date. That undo is your "upgrade back" — instant and safe.

Why I recommend itSimplest possible mental model (everything stays "months of your plan"), you keep 100% of the dealer's trust and money on the platform, it matches Google/Spotify exactly, and it's the lightest change to what's already built — the payment system isn't touched at all.

4Option B — a Teswa wallet (credit balance)

The rule: prepaid months are cancelled and their value becomes wallet credit(«رصيد المحفظة: 202.500 د.ك») shown in المدفوعات. Every future purchase — renewals, upgrades, bump packs — draws from the wallet first, and only the remainder goes to the card.

Checkout would show:

الإجمالي 40.000 د.ك · من المحفظة −40.000 د.ك · المطلوب دفعه 0.000 د.ك

ProsThe most flexible — credit can pay for anything we sell later (featured ads, extra products). It's exactly what Bayut does.

ConsA new concept dealers must trust ("where did my money go?"), it invites "can I cash it out?" questions, and today — when the subscription is the only thing a dealer buys — it's Option A with extra steps. Also the heaviest to build: it touches every checkout in the system.

Note We can always add the wallet later on top of Option Awhen Teswa sells more things — nothing is lost by starting with A.

5Included with either option — the flow fixes

· Your 1/3/6/12 buttons never disappear. While a downgrade is scheduled, «تجديد الباقة» stays and prices at the new tier, with a hint: «الأسعار حسب باقة «النمو» المجدولة». Months you buy are added after the change date.

· Upgrading after the change uses the normal upgrade flow (immediate, pays the difference) — and any remaining converted months convert back the same way, with the same math.

· Cash-to-card refunds move to support only (the admin dashboard already has the button) — matching every platform surveyed.

· Latin digits and the new wording everywhere, as always.
